Alive...

Alive...

"Nature is alive!"
Such thoughts should fill us with joy, as if fairies were discovered in our backyard. The natural world is a place of beauty, vitality, and excitement, yet even this amazing world is but the material shell surrounding the even more dazzling inner beauty of the Living Nature. Contact with this inwardly alive presence lights up the spirit. It is like a return home from exile.

A perceptive eye and heart will notice that within this living world every hill, stone, tree, plant, and animal has a lesson that it can convey to the onlooker. We conscious humans are the ones who can experience, love, and learn from the world around us, but right now we are trapped in an isolated, cold, dark place. If we were to look and see, open ourselves and feel, we could learn innumerable beautiful lessons of both heart and mind. The Mother of All is a highly articulated and developed in content world, or even an entire civilization.

When we come in contact with the Living Nature we know that there is a spiritual world and we are a citizen. Our lives become more authentic while our decisions are based increasingly on the greater good. Best of all, real magic is restored to our lives, and I do not mean the magic of creative visualization or parlor tricks, but the wonder in which children live because the next moment is alive and unpredictable.

Film, SOOC

It takes a lot to get to the point in your life where you can look at the world and say with confidence: I'm ready for all you have to throw my way. Bring it on.

I will be happy. I will make my life worth something. Let all the unknown and uncertainty and worry come. I can take it and I will love every minute of it because

I am alive deep down in my soul.

Hot Dog Demise

Hot Dog Demise

It looks like one hot dog has met a sudden and violent end while his friend looks worried about his future and he should be because i am hungry :-)

Info:

A hot dog (also known as a frankfurter, frank, wiener, or weenie) is a moist sausage of soft, even texture and flavor, often made from advanced meat recovery or meat slurry. Most types are fully cooked, cured or smoked. When served, it is usually hot, and is placed in a special purpose soft, sliced hot dog bun, although it is possible for them to be eaten alone. It may be garnished with mustard, ketchup, onion, mayonnaise, relish, cheese, chili or sauerkraut. The flavor can be similar to a range of meat products from bland bologna to spicy German bockwurst varieties. Hot dogs made from a range of meats are on the market, but Kosher or Halal hot dogs must be made from beef, chicken or turkey. Vegetarian hot dogs made from meat analogue are available.

Unlike other sausages which may be sold uncooked, hot dogs are always precooked before packaging. Hot dogs can be eaten without additional cooking, although they are usually warmed before serving. Since even the unopened packaged hot dog can have bacteria it is safer to reheat them (especially important for pregnant women and those with suppressed immune systems).

Claims about the invention of the hot dog are difficult to assess because various stories assert the creation of the sausage, the placing of the sausage (or another kind of sausage) on bread or a bun as finger food, the popularization of the existing dish, or the application of the name "hot dog" to a sausage and bun combination.

The word frankfurter comes from Frankfurt, Germany, where pork sausages served a bun similar to hot dogs originated. Wiener refers to Vienna, Austria, whose German name is "Wien", home to a sausage made of a mixture of pork and beef (cf. Hamburger, whose name also derives from a German-speaking city). In German speaking countries, except Austria, hot dog sausages are called Wiener or Wiener Wurstchen (Wurstchen means "little sausage"). In Swiss German, it is called Wienerli, while in Austria the terms Frankfurter or Frankfurter Wurstel are used.

The city of Vienna traces the lineage of the hot dog to the Wienerwurst or Viennese sausage, the city of Frankfurt to the Frankfurter Wurst, which it claims was invented in the 1480s and given to the people on the event of imperial coronations, starting with the coronation of Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor as King; the hot dog has also been attributed to Johann Georg Lahner, a 18th/19th century butcher from the Bavarian city of Coburg who is said to have invented the "dachshund" or "little-dog" sausage and brought it from Frankfurt to Vienna.

Around 1870, on Coney Island, German immigrant Charles Feltman began selling sausages in rolls.

Others have supposedly invented the hot dog. The idea of a hot dog on a bun is ascribed to the wife of a German named Antonoine Feuchtwanger, who sold hot dogs on the streets of St. Louis, Missouri, in 1880, because his customers kept taking the white gloves handed to them for eating without burning their hands. Anton Ludwig Feuchtwanger, a Bavarian sausage seller, is said to have served sausages in rolls at the World's Fair–either the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago or the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St Louis – again allegedly because the white gloves he gave to customers so that they could eat his hot sausages in comfort began to disappear as souvenirs.

The association between hot dogs and baseball began as early as 1893 with Chris von der Ahe, a German immigrant who owned not only the St. Louis Browns, but also an amusement park.

Harry M Stevens Inc., founded in 1889, serviced major sports venues with hot dogs and other refreshments, making Stevens known as the "King of Sports Concessions" in the US.

In 1916, an employee of Feltman's named Nathan Handwerker was encouraged by celebrity clients Eddie Cantor and Jimmy Durante to go into business in competition with his former employer.

Handwerker undercut Feltman's by charging five cents for a hot dog when his former employer was charging ten. At an earlier time in food regulation the hot dog suspect, Handwerker made sure that men wearing surgeon's smocks were seen eating at Nathan's Famous to reassure potential customers.

I Shot Andy Warhol (Mary Harron, 1996)

I Shot Andy Warhol (Mary Harron, 1996)

Life in this society being, at best, an utter bore and no aspect of society being at all relevant to women, there remains to civic-minded, responsible, thrill-seeking females only to overthrow the government, eliminate the money system, institute complete automation and destroy the male sex."
Mary Harron, the writer-director making her feature debut with "I Shot Andy Warhol," certainly ought to be admired for spotting that opening passage from "The S.C.U.M. Manifesto," the cri de coeur of the outraged feminist loner named Valerie Solanas, and finding within it the kernel of a scrappy, vibrant, unexpectedly touching film with a ragtag heroine no audience will easily forget.
I Shot Andy Warhol," another madeleine of a movie that strongly evokes the Factory days, also shows Ms. Harron's enterprise by taking its catchy title from Ms. Solanas's statement to the police. Ms. Solanas's syntax proclaimed her ultra-outlaw status just as surely as if her victim, instead of the exquisitely bored and jaded Pop Art impresario, had been Jesse James.
This film's extraordinary centerpiece is Lili Taylor, giving a great, funny, furiously alive performance that deserves to put her on the mainstream map. Ms. Taylor, who has often played strange and vehement outsiders in the past (in films including "Household Saint" and "The Addiction"), finds a dream role in this film's tirelessly combative Valerie.
Tough as a teamster yet also oddly, even poignantly naive, she takes no prisoners when it comes to espousing radical theories or cooking up ways to make a buck. She's equally willing to try prostitution or charge a $6 an hour fee for her conversational skills. "Fifteen cents, any dirty word you want," Valerie announces, pitching herself to passers-by on the street. When she finds a taker who pays her to say something dirty, she's got the word ready: "Men."
As written by Ms. Harron and Daniel Minahan, who originally intended a television docudrama and stick close to that format, "I Shot Andy Warhol" begins with the shooting on June 3, 1968, and then flashes back to find the roots of Valerie's extremism. As a college student in 1957, she is found developing her theory that man is only a biological accident, and that the Y chromosome is merely an imperfect X. There she is in the clean-cut 1950's, brazenly making a pass at the woman trying to take her psychological profile. And there she is a few years later, meeting her match as she tries to understand the mannered, elitist Warhol scene.
The film's greatest directorial success is in finding a thoroughly entertaining way of inviting the audience to share Valerie's point of view. Though it would have been easy to treat her subject as a pariah or freak, Ms. Harron empathizes with Valerie's angry isolation and finds much absurdist humor in the juxtaposition between her no-baloney manner and the Factory's fey ways. There is, for instance, the moment when Valerie's image turns up on a reel of Factory screen tests and shocks a small, studiously effete group of viewers. "What is that horrendous monstrosity?" one exclaims. "Isn't she tragic?" asks another.
Ms. Harron re-creates the usual suspects within the Warhol crowd, but the right mood is difficult to capture. This film's Factory party sequence hits all the required notes without the dizzying sensory overload found in "Midnight Cowboy" or other contemporary accounts of Factory antics. Nor does Ms. Harron quite reach the heady mix of the banal and the exotic found in "Nico Icon." There are good Factory impersonations from Michael Imperioli (Ondine), Craig Chester (Fred Hughes), Reg Rodgers (Paul Morissey) and others. Still, despite Ms. Harron's longtime fascination with her subject matter, these scenes stay tame enough to suggest a visit to the petting zoo.
The film works best when emphasizing the culture clash between Valerie and her unfriendly new acquaintances. It draws its most trenchant parallel between her and Warhol as twin wallflowers in a weirdly theatrical world. One of the film's best sequences, after Valerie has come to New York and begun trumpeting her own talents, is about one of her exuberantly obscene plays. While Valerie stages an impassioned reading in a hot dog joint, members of the Warhol coterie sit on the Factory's famous red sofa, reading the same material in a different spirit. Pronounces Brigid Polk, nee Brigid Berlin (Coco McPherson): "It's way too disgusting, even for us."
That nothing is too disgusting for Valerie is also, most ebulliently, part of the film's peculiar charm. It observes the comically unappetizing sexual exploits that provide fuel for the Manifesto, with Ms. Taylor turning up in a man's underwear or dressed as a mannish street urchin to read a few select passages. The film also watches the growing contempt in which Valerie is held by arch-frivolous Factory den
